I have a friend that I’ve been friends with for over 14 years. He is my neighbour upstairs. Met him when I was 9 years old, we still are friends. Most of my childhood memories have been with him. Including the ones with the God of War Trilogy that kicked off in 2005.
In 2005, we were 9 years old. Although I don’t precisely remember if we were that young when we first played this game but it was around that time. One of the most fun activities I did was going upstairs to my friend’s house, sitting in front of the big-ass CRT TV, putting that disc into that PlayStation 2 and beating the sh*t out of those weird-looking mythological monsters.
Earlier this year, the new God of War has arrived. With fans from around the world cheering and impatiently waiting for this mind-blowing, beautiful-looking and tremendously different game. It’s finally out! This game itself was so much-anticipated that it made many people, including me, buy PS4s just to be able to play this game. (along with some other PS4 exclusives of course)

I started playing it a month ago, barely finding time to get into it and enjoy. Frankly, my first 2-3 hours into the game, I was like “I don’t remember anything about God of War at all and this game doesn’t look fun either…” Boy was I wrong… As I got sucked into it, I started spending 3 to 5 hours at a time in front of the monitor, not even realizing that I missed lunch.
With its story telling, its beautifully integrated trivia, one of the best graphics that a game has in 2018 and its non-existent loading screens, it’s not just a triple A game at this point but a work of art. The whole gameplay feels like there is a single drone with a camera following you: Kratos, and your son: Atreus, throughout the story and everything you experience. This alone puts you in an atmosphere very absorbing.
One of the most common questions when a game of this calibre is released: Do I have to play the games before to enjoy this one? You don’t have to worry about having finished all 3 games at all before playing this one because with every detail the game tells you a little more about Kratos’ past and the story of each character. You don’t even have to read every journal entry. With a specific development, these details become a bigger part of the game. Ssshh… No spoilers.

I’ve finished the main story a couple days ago but there is a ton of things I still want to do. One of the best games ever made, a candidate for the best game award in 2018. It’ll be a pity for it to lose it Red Dead Redemption 2 just because of the unlucky incident of being released in the same year… From top to bottom, what this game offers is truely an experience worthy of your time. Don’t know if you should buy a PS4 just for this one though. 🙂
